This doctor who sonic screwdriver toy is a perfect toy for this Christmas. It is styled after the Sonic screwdriver that Matt Smith had in the latest series of Doctor Who. The Eleventh doctor had a different sonic screwdriver to the other ten doctors so make sure you do not miss out on this toy for Christmas. It is spring loaded, lights up and makes sound when the button is pressed, just like in the popular television series. . It weighs 454 grams and is 25.5 centimetres long. On the screwdriver there is one button for the extension effect and another for the light and sound. Pressing this button will cause the bulb to emit a light green hue, like in the television series, and depending on the number of times you press the button in quick succession will make up to four different sounds. The sounds include the standard whirring noise, an alarm (accompanied by the bulb flashing) and a noise that makes the sonic screwdriver seem faulty; like when the doctor damages his in the latest series. Make sure you don’t miss out on this hot toy for Christmas

The first sonic screwdriver was seen in doctor who in the serial ‘fury from the deep’ and was used by the doctor to do various tasks. Although over the years the design for the Dr Who sonic screwdriver has changed the function of it has been the same since the beginning; a multi purpose tool that will dismantle, unlock or evaluate anything The Doctor points it at. In the original series it was not that widely used as the creator of doctor who did not want the writers to get too lazy and start to rely on it too heavily. At the end of season 19 it was even destroyed by a ‘Terileptil’ to prevent the doctor escaping a holding cell making the doctor reply “It feels like you just killed an old friend”. In a 2005 DVD interview Eric Saward said that the current producer, John Nathan-Turner, had decided to scrap this prop believing that Doctor Who had “ a cupboard full of them” and that its existence of being able to get them out of anything was limiting the script. After its destruction the  sonic screwdriver was not seen again in the original series apart from in 1996 in the Doctor Who TV Movie where it first got its telescopic design.

At the beginning of the new series there is a blue light in addition to the sound effect. The first prop that was made was  fragile and broke many times. When the toy  of the first sonic screwdriver was released the  BBC where so impressed with how much more resilient the toy sonic screwdriver was than the prop

Dr Sonic screwdriver are really cool and all, doesn't the real question still elude us??? how would we make one? what combination of plumbing parts or whatever would yield a wikkid Dr Sonic screwdriver case? i can fit just about anything, well. Scott. Passenger 57/ doctor007.
Dr Sonic screwdriver are projecting anachronistic traits onto the latter device, qualities it didn't acquire until years, even decades later. The Dr Sonic screwdriver of 1968-9 was quite dull and unimpressive compared to gary's servo. I doubt it would've stood out in anyone's mind as something worthy of imitation.
The r/c k9 robot dog is a throwback to the original series which came out in the 70's. He was in a more recent episode so anyone who follows only the new series will recognize him. He speaks 7 different phrases and can move forwards and backwards and do turns. He also as an expendable nose blaster along with a few other tricks and surprises.
Dr Sonic screwdriver are made from this pliable plastic, which means you stand a chance of mangling the doctor's most treasured bit of gadgetry while simply trying to put it in his hand. However, the soft plastic used also means the figures are susceptible to paint blemishes and even scratches. They're great display pieces but require some careful handling; i'm not sure how well they'd stand up to actual play. K-9 is the most robust figure in this early assortment; just the nature and physical shape of the character meant that he could be built like a tank (and a hard plastic one at that). More figures are on the way following the premiere of season two, including the new cybermen and several other villains yet unseen, and three words that, given the quality of the figures so far, should have any fan salivating: “electronic tardis playset.
But even then you could argue that six had a sonic lance, which was very similar.
